just burn the porn industry to the ground
In my brief time on tumblr, I think I have discovered an accurate set of guidelines for being a post-modernist liberal “feminist”.
1. If you identify as something, you are that thing. No one can appropriate your identity, deny your lived experience or use slurs that belong to your marginalized…
I love this image so much.
I’ve seen some women who are offended by this and say it’s ridiculous that her cleavage is showing and things of that sort.
Personally, I think it’s great.
Why should we have an image of a women with her hair tied up and flexing her muscles like she’s a man? (not that that isn’t great too!) In a way it suggests that when our hair is down, our breasts are visible and we wear (GASP) lipstick, we’re somehow lesser than men? We can do it! We can be feminine and successful.
You see what I’m saying here, ladies?
You don’t have to lose your femininity. Being feminine is great. Being masculine is great. Strength is not limited to one way of being.
THE COMMENTARY IS MAKING MY HEART SING
The fact that self-identified feminists are piling praise upon an image of female objectification makes me want to vomit.
There is nothing, absolutely nothing, “anti-feminine” about the original Rosie The Riveter poster that warranted a pin-up-esque male gaze oriented makeover. If you look at the original image , she appears to be wearing make-up. Rosie wears her hair pinned back and doesn’t show cleavage because she is a laborer; she dresses that way for practicality and safety while working in the factory. Rosie’s flexed muscles and curled fist weren’t a display of manliness or an attempt to be manly; that was a symbol of female strength and power, of agency. Here, we have Rosie docilely running her fingers through her hair. Everything about this is a misogynistic distortion of the original image displaying Rosie as a sex object rather than a strong and valuable member of the labor force,
Don’t believe me? Do some fucking research because this image was actually intended to have an anti-feminist message. To quote the artist, Will Murrai:
"The idea was to make the famous feminist feminism symbol ‘Rosie The Riveter’ a lady who is giving up her duties and trying to look sexy again."
Or read this commentary here.
One cannot redefine patriarchal notions of femininity and weakness by embracing patriarchal notions of femininity and weakness. That is utter hypocrisy. That is Orwellian. Let’s get this toxic embrace-your-femininity-by embracing-patriarchal-ideals-of-femininity bullshit the fuck of out of the movement,
This image was made by an anti-feminist and liberal Feminists are embracing it. I am not surprised in the slightest
if you’re a libfem or otherwise “sex positive,” fucking unfollow me.

men who watch porn are so fucking gross
"rapists should go to therapy and get help, not be locked up or killed" like 8/10 leftist men say this when asked what should happen to rapists
and then they proceed to pressure victims not to report their rapist comrade to the police and accuse victims of participating in police & state violence & the prison industrial complex. They’ll also refuse to kick rapists out of organizations because “they’re helping overthrow capitalism” & accuse victims of being divisive.
